Eggtastic

Image
I found this project very difficult most difficult as I find working with 3D objects very difficult as it doesn't come naturally to me to think in that way.  The brief  was to create an egg holder only using paper which would protect the egg and prevent it from breaking when dropped from a height.  I was not successful on this task as my egg didn’t withstand being dropped and I think that this was because I didn’t think about what I was doing as I wasn’t comfortable when working with a 3D structure.  I went with my first idea and created something extremely basic in appearance. I didn't fully record the process through thumbnail designs which would have helped me to develop my ideas further to create a more durable and aesthetically pleasing design which would have made my project more successful.

Drawing for an Envelope

For this task we had to work as a group to create instructions for someone to construct a door with any written instructions or shapes. It also had to fit in an A4 envelope.  This task was extremely difficult as it had to make us think outside of the box and not follow our natural instinct which, in this case, was to create a set of simple instructions to follow. As a group we decided to recreate the door out of string as, when layed out, we thought it would be the best way for someone to see the basic shapes of the individual parts of the door.  Overall I think that we were successful at this task as we met the aims of the brief however, I felt that we could have been a bit more imaginative with the ways we used to rope to show different parts of the door as, to someone eles, they wouldn't be able to tell what part of the door is which. This could be done by using thicker rope or plaited rope to show the different elements.

London Trip 14/09/17

Our task for the day - Pick out three things that you are passionate about or interested in - Use analytical skills to bullet point words - Set out work in sketchbook - Think about textures, shape, form, structure - Take lots of photos - Sketch, write observational notes  Brick Lane Brick Lane for me was a very vibrant setting as every surface was decorated in eye catching graffiti that you couldn't help but stop to look at. I like the idea of graffiti as it is this collaborative art, each individual has an idea for and initially creates it for themselves but, as more people add to the wall, it becomes a large scale collaborative composition. River Side I find the architecture in London fascinating as there is always an amazing structure to look at where ever you are in the city, and each one is different. I like how unnatural the buildings all look together in the skyline, the sky is built up with these different shapes ...
