Induction Drawing Experiment - First Day

Image 1 - I was drawn to this section as I liked the similar hue of colour between the pink boot that I produced next to the yellow one; the colours combined together make for an interesting colour pallet. My observation drawing of my hand layered over the top adds an interesting texture to the drawing due to the sketchy nature of the lines and the rough texture of the medium. Furthermore, the grey tone of colour juxtaposes the warm pastel hues which creates a push and pull affect between the different subjects.

Image 2 - The variety of marks used here contrast each other and create an interesting texture. For the green hand, it appears that someone experimented with the way the oil pastel was used such as on its side which creates a flatter fainter texture, they also used the medium conventionally creating thinner marks, in turn this adds variety to the drawing. As these were short quick sketches there isn't a lot of detail, but if longer time was given to improve this perhaps they could have experimented with the weight of the lines used to give a sense of shadow and depth. This concept has inspired me to experiment with the marks that I use within a drawing to make it look more interesting.

Image 3 - I really like the section of the drawing completed by other members of the class as it is interesting to see how different people have approached the same object. The three drawings of different sizes and colour layered together is visually appealing and drew my eye immediately. The first is more faint and the marks used are sketchy and loose which is something I like about it, I want to take this technique for my drawings as I tend to be more tight with my mark making. The blue and the yellow pastel  are colours the go well together, although I presume this was accidental, it makes for a successful composition.
